World Intellectual Property Organization

WIPO is a global forum for intellectual property (IP) services, policy, information and collaboration. We are a self-funded United Nations agency with 193 member states. Our mission is to lead the development of a balanced and effective international intellectual property system that enables innovation and creativity for the benefit of all. Our powers, governing bodies and procedures are defined in the WIPO Treaty, which established WIPO in 1967. About 250 NGOs and intergovernmental organizations have official observer status at WIPO meetings. WIPO helps governments, businesses and society understand the benefits of intellectual property.
