Non Governmental Organization

NGOs are a subset of citizen-founded organizations, which include clubs and associations that provide services to their members and others. NGOs are usually non-profit organizations and many of them are in the humanities or social sciences. Research shows that NGOs have a high level of public trust, which can make them useful voices for social and stakeholder concerns. However, NGOs such as the World Economic Forum can also be lobbyists for the business. According to NGO.org (a non-profit organization affiliated with the United Nations), “[NGO] is any voluntary non-profit civic group that is organized on a local, national or international level … by people of common interest. ; and humanitarian missions, addressing the concerns of citizens to governments, promoting and monitoring policies, and promoting political participation through the provision of information.”
